- Greyhound Leisure Services, Inc. was founded in 1958 under the name, Florida Export Tobacco, when the Company established the first duty free shop in the United States at Miami International Airport.
- Florida Export Warehouse was formed in 1961 to provide sundries, souvenirs, and gift merchandise to hotel and airport shops.
- In 1966, International Cruise Shops was created to operate duty free shops onboard cruise ships. Florida Export became a wholly owned subsidiary of The Greyhound Corporation in 1968.
- The Company changed its name to Greyhound Leisure Services, Inc. in 1987.
- In 1995, GLSI earned the distinctive "Onboard Services Award" for Carnival Cruise Line's Fascination.
- In 1998, the Company was honored based on their successes aboard the Carnival Destiny. GLSI was recognized as "Marine Retailer of the Year.”
- The "Diamond Award" was garnered by GLSI in 2000, designating the Company as "Outstanding Duty Free Retailer – Onboard Services,” aboard Carnival Cruise Line.
- Miami-based Greyhound Leisure Services, Inc. was acquired by LVMH Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton in January, 2000.
- As a key extension of LVMH's travel retail group, Starboard Cruise Services, Inc. was officially born in October, 2000.In July, 2001, J.P. Miquel was named Chairman, Starboard Holdings and primarily responsible for business development and client relationships with the cruise line industry. This appointment enabled Starboard to maximize JP's significant expertise and over 30 years experience in developing retail for the cruise business, while exploring potential new opportunities.
- Also in January, 2001, Rob Norris was appointed President, Starboard Holdings. Rob leads the Starboard management teams at the Miami headquarters. Rob joined Starboard from Hudson's Bay Company in Canada where he held an illustrious twenty-two year career.
- In 2007, Starboard was recognized as Best Cruise Retailer in the Americas at the Raven Fox Awards for Travel Retail Excellence.
- In 2009, Starboard was awarded the contract for the largest cruise ship in the world – The Oasis of the Seas.
- In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Starboard won Best Cruise Travel Retailer in The Americas at the Duty Free News International (DFNI) Awards for Travel Retail Excellence.
- In 2011, Starboard won Best Cruise Travel Retailer at the Duty Free News International (DFNI) Global Awards for Travel Retail Excellence.
